General Wario references thread (Now with Index on page 13).

It's worth mentioning that in Mario Golf for the 3ds Wario shows up doing the shoulder bash, but his animation is based on Wario Land: Shake it! (I haven't found footage though)

Also his victory animation on the ring challenges is based on Super Smash.

I talked about Wario's set of presents in Mario Party 4 before and how it's a nice touch that he has his castle, rather then something generic. Thing is, a lot of people like to think of the bike as an early version of the Wario Bike from Ware, but I think that it might possibly be more inspired by Wario Blast, where the player was on a bike in the later levels of the game:

I mean both games were made by Hudson, so if anyone was to directly reference Wario Blast I'd fully expect it to be them.

The description for Wario's star constellation in Mario Party 9 has this to say :

Maybe not entirely intentional, but it sure sounds very WarioWare to me.

Also, I looked up the Wario profiles page on Mario Wiki out of curiosity and appearently there are some Land and Ware references in the Mii dialogues that concern Wario, mainly :

-Wario's a big greedy adventurer, right? Makes me wonder if he's thinking about treasure even while he's competing in the Games. I mean, I saw him leap into the sea a little while ago because he thought he saw gold. Turned out it was just an old shoe, which really steamed him good!

-Wario has quite the resume, don't you think? He's a treasure hunter, an adventurer, and even the CEO of WarioWare, Inc. What a Renaissance man!

-Wario sure does love money! I mean, sure, we all love money, or at least like it a lot. But he takes it to a whole new level! I hear he founded a company to help him make coin, but I think he's more into get-rich-quick schemes than good, honest work. Nothing's too sleazy for him!

I never bothered with Rio 2016, since I'm just sick of the Mario & Sonic series, so this is new to me.

I mentioned what Wario's Vampire and Springo Candy forms in Mario Party 8 remind me of, but there it is again :

I'm bringing this up, because thinking about it, his Thwomp Candy form does remind me of the Wario Head Sculptures in Wario World :

On the credits of Wario World all voice acting was performed by Charles Martinet, meaning that this is the second game where he voices all characters including protagonist and antagonist (first being Super Punch Out)
