Do I have to play the first game to understand Pac-Man World 2?

Again, Tales and Dark Souls... simply don't appeal to me and I feel they have been oversaturated in terms of games released often IMO. Not that I think they are BAD or disown people who like them but... Those aren't the only things Namco should produce for gods sake, much like how Ninty can't rely on just Mario, Zelda forever. What about, oh I dunno... Wario Land, Metroid and F-Zero?
