As per Shigeru Miyamoto:

Yeah, I don't agree with the conflation of Wario and toilet humour, but hey, it's nice to see they're not ruling out Wario's presence altogether.

It's nice to hear that Miyamoto doesnt want toilet humor in the movies, but also sad that fart humor is the first thing he thinks of when he thinks of Wario?

Miyamoto had hardly any involvement in the Wario Land games, so he's probably just weak on Wario Knowledge.

I think this could be an excellent opportunity to pivot Wario's humour from fart jokes back to things like him and Waluigi's schemes failing like in some of the sports games, or even him being spiteful and wanting revenge on Mario for always being the sheriff and making him the bandit like 1255 times in that one manga
