Does anyone else gets confused in Wario Land 3?

Yeah, whatever "skill issue", "git gud" but I have tried to play WL3 like 3 or 4 times now in those past 2 years and every time I get lost at a different place in the beginning. I always hear about people saying it's so great and it's probably the most loved Wario game with Wario Land 4 and I'm pretty mad at the fact I cannot grasp how that game works for whatever reason. Has anyone ever encountered similar things or is it just me being weird? Does anyone has any tips? (Yeah I'm really out there asking tips for a Wario Land game of all things, games that are known for being easy lol).

Also please do note I'm not calling it a bad game, it just confuses me too much so that I cant' play it.

• Keep going back to the giant face, he tells you the name of the level that you need to explore.
  • You have to explore the level until you find the right chest. Each level has 4 chests: Gray, Red, Blue, Green. (Not all chests are needed)
    • Chests/treasures unlock new abilities (ex: ground pound, breaking harder blocks), new levels, or environment changes.
      • With the new abilities you unlock, there are new areas in the level you can explore that you couldn't get into before. In these new areas, you find the other chests.

If you're just trying to beat the game, the main thing is to keep revisiting the giant face and he tells you the main level you need to explore until you find the right chest to progress the game.

I think part of what makes Wario Land 3 confusing is how massive of a game it is. Unlike 4, which a kid could beat in a single weekend.

But yeah, after you beat Rudy, the game can get pretty confusing. Especially if you take a long break in between. I remember doing the same thing when playing on my switch and was pretty baffled on where to go after coming back.

Definitely what these two said. Long breaks are disorienting and you can always run back to the start area for a clue.

Idk how far you got but some levels like the grassy plains with the scientist or the volcano early on is a early show of your gotta puzzle platform and there's no hint system for some of that unless you fully give up and use a walkthrough

If you haven't encountered a boss yet you may find a reason they can frustrate you.

If you run into the golf mini game. I can't help you I just do it until it works and I can get quite worked up over it with some of the later challenges

And if it's not super obvious already 1 chest = exit/1 item. Always pay attention to what flashes right after you grab that chest. It may be a previous level. If I remember correctly if you don't watch the map carefully when it loads in you'll just have to run back to start for your clue (and it may not necessarily give you the one you want)

Lastly just beat the game without worrying about 100% the first time.

This is NOT a game to take breaks from. This game is meant to be played frequently.

This way... you visit a level, you sort of memorise its layout as you explore it. And then... When you find a treasure that makes changes to a level, you can know where that was. For example, if you got a treasure that put on some "campfires", you'd go - oh, I remember where those were, so I'll go there, and be able to explore a new path.

That's how all metroidvanias are, really. As you explore, you use the layout, and you use your memory of the world layout, to return to old paths. Because you would supposidly know where they are.

But taking long breaks - that will definitely put you at a disadvantage.

Note that any time you get a treasure that activates something, you'd get a cutscene, that specifically tells you what levels you unlocked new stuff in.

And if you want a direct recommendation of "what level should I go for", you can always enter the Temple, and Hidden Figure will tell you exactly where you should go.

I know the game very well, having played it so many times as a kid. But I completly understand why this sort of segmented mission-based metroidvania can be pretty confusing for new players.
