I love cross stitching! Y'know, the thing with fabric and thread, and you sew to create pictures and words. My great-aunt has made some very nice things in her life: curtains, tablecloths, chair covers, all done by hand and with very beautiful designs.
So I asked her if she could teach me how to do it, and since I've picked it up quite easily. Though it takes so long to do a small section. I could compare it to drawing a picture, one pixel at a time. I've decided to make a surprise for mum: together we're four kids (boy girl boy girl). So on a small square piece of fabric I am writing each of us kids' names on each side of the square, with a rose in the center (because mum likes roses). I'm about half-way finished!
Though honestly I'm not too embarrassed to say I cross stitch in my free time. There's something very special in making them, whether it's the time it takes, the amount of effort and planning, or the tradition and how truly special and unique the finished product is.
