Upcoming Game Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (October 6th 2017)

Okay, this will be controversial, but does anyone feel the music is quite underwhelming here?

Sure, the new songs are really good:

But I feel the remixes often didn't really improve the quality of the samples all that much. Like in these examples:

Something just seems off here. It's just not as pleasant to listen to as Dream Team's soundtrack. Or parts of Paper Jam's.

The remixes are pretty disappointing across the board. I especially dislike the small enemy battle theme, it sounds a lot less peppy and exciting.

I love that Cackletta artwork though, she looks like an Invader Zim character ^^

It's hard to tell with so much reverb going on. You can hardly hear what each instruments sounds like since they're all blending together into a soup of noise.

...I'm being hyperbolic of course, but I still don't like the reverb. Never liked it. Say what you will about the GBA's sound quality but at least the samples sounded crisp and powerful, not wishy-washy.

Actually, no. I take that back. I was wrong. The soundtrack IS better.
In fact, it can be even betterer than better!
It can be the betterest!

...There! Now it's perfect!

So, since the game was leaked, there are some videos of it on YouTube.
I was watching one of them, and the guy is like "why are we fighting Fawful? We already had a tutorial battle with Bowser! Why can't we scip it?"

Completly obvious to the fact that:
  1. It's a tutorial and practice for fighting as a duo!
  2. It's PART OF THE STORY!!! Would you REALLY EXPECT Fawful to appear, and then just shoot the Koopa Kruiser down without a fight? That would be ruining Fawful's character!
That was so annoying watching him be like that.

I still love tutorials, and I still go throught tutorials whenever I can. Dream Team may have overloaded us with tutorials, but Superstar Saga was perfectly decent, and the remake even streamlined a lot of the tutorials.

So why complain about a f***ing story boss that it also a tutorial?

Yeah, I don't know what it is, but a good number of the remixes aren't what I would have liked them to be either, there's just something about them that feels very...limited? Minimalistic? I dunno.

Oh man, now the guy got really angry and started yelling when he saw that Minion Quest feartured the Koopalings, DEAPITE THEM BEING IN THE ORIGIONAL SUPERSTAR SAGA!
Why do people even make videos when they aren't even familiar with the origional?

That feel when no one reacts to your joke...

I don't mind story fights, but I feel like they should've added an option that removes the tutorial DIALOG from the game. So you'd still fight fawful but Bowser doesn't go like "Hey, wanna learn this and that?" anymore. And whenever you get a new move, you just have it, you don't have to go through the tutorial again. Like, I don't need to know which buttons to push to stomp Luigi into the ground if I've beaten the game already.
EVERY game that has tutorials like that should have an "I've played this game before" mode.
Especially if it's a remake.
Wind Waker HD gives you hero mode right from the start as well because they know people have already played the original and might want the challenge right away.
Sadly, we don't get anything like that. How hard is it to make a hard mode? You already made an easy mode. Even if it just means double damage again.

*Siighhhh*
Kameks are recycled of course, but that's fine since there was nothing special about them in the original.

Sniper bills no longer wear fingerless gloves, like a sniper and have no mouths but at least they still have the super scope.

They also still have goofy feet while running back! ^^

This makes no sense. What are these guys the skeletons of? Not Troopeas, those walk on 2 legs now. (these are called Elite Dry Bones now, btw...)

For some reason Bowletta has Bowser's voice, not Cackletta's. What's up with that? The head still looks more like Cackletta's than Bowser's.

Bowser's castle doesn't drop into the ocean anymore, it just explodes into pieces.
I guess that saves animation :V

Bowser doesn't sneeze and catch a cold anymore, he just sorta gets sad and angry for a bit. The original scene was really cute and actually made you feel pretty bad for bowser. ;w;

After the credits it no longer shows the Yoshies in the cinema cheering, it just sorta ends. :/

So... turns out there is no bonus content in the main story mode after beating the game. No hard mode, no boss rush, nothing.

Especially if it's a remake.

Maybe I take the story, or roleplaying the game to seriously.
But to me... I never go "I already know this" if the characters in the game don't know this.
Superstar Saga was M&L's first adventure together since Super Mario World, so they don't know how to do these things.
That's probably a weird way to play games, but that's just how I like to play.

So, Starbeans Cafe has a bit of a explaination now and Partners in Time is foreshadowed.

This series is utterly in love with it's continuity and I can't get enough of it.

Hoohoo Villagers kept their origional design, instead of re-using Dream Team's!
In addition to that, the way the villagers speek has been kept the same as it was in the origional, without the unnesesary adding "hoo" in every sentense.

And if I'm not mistaken, I may have spotted the guy who proposes to bis girlfriend in Dream Team. I love these continuity nods!

Despite some things becoming more generic, there are plenty of good things in this remake.

So it seemed that the game is going go have more fast travel with green pipes.
But I found footage of the Bros visiting the Beanbean Castletown Pipe House, and reading the tutorial about green pipes.
Turns out the game has 13 green pipes, while the origional had 9. So only 4 new pipes were added.
One is in Holly Jolly village. That's nice. It used to be quite difficult to backtrack there when we needed to go find Blablamadon.
Another is at Hoohoo Mountain Descent: Tracks End. I guess it's also a nice place to have a warp to. I mean, there are boo statues nearby, and an ultra rock with a Golden Monty Mole behind it, so it would be a nice place to revisit.

I don't know where the other 2 are.
Most likely not in Bowser's Castle. His castle is from the Mushroom Kingdom, and it wouldn't make sense for it to be connected to the Beanbean pipes. But hey, as long as Bowser's Castle has a quick warp from the Great Door to the Entrance, everything will be fine.
Were there any other locations that needed a green pipe, but didn't have one in the origional game? The fashion studio? The airport? Perhaps Teehee Valley?
I don't know, we'll have to wait and see.
