In the distant past of 2017, the Japanese Badge Arcade held its first and last april fool's gag. The joke, framed as a "Badge Arcade direct" announced that a new game staring Ashley and four new friends (the weapon-totting Claudia, NotPenny Anna, the cook Coco and Vanessa, who owns a megaphone) would be released for the 3DS on a timely release for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The would-be game had Ashley 'n' frenz warping to the other side of the galaxy after an accident in "astronaut school" and have to deal with unruly aliens while trying to get back home. Illustrated with concept art of the characters, the game had no gameplay described beside a vague statement the protagonists "must fight [the aliens] or become friends with them and return to earth". The presentation ended with the bunny admiting it was fake and invite the player to make noise on social medias and Miiverse.

I found that invitation intriguing, as well as the joke's focus on promoting and developing brand new characters. On one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the same person at Nintendo who promoted Ashley so much in the past years was itching to make a game starring her and comissioned some stealth market research to see if their pitch resonated with people. On the other, I'm probably being ridiculous and conflating my desires with reality (not just because I want a Ashley game but also because Claudia seems to be a really rad character imo).

But yeah, Crazy Galaxy, is it or was it an actual project or not? And do you want it?
 
Wouldn't be surprised if this was something someone actually wanted to make, could have also been a complete joke though, I really dunno.

I personally don't want it, like at all, but I'm not gonna act like it's gonna break my shins and wreck everything I hold dear if it does become real.
 
The possibility of Crazy Galaxy being a real game is definitely there and I can't deny that there is a demand for this game to exist, but I also have doubt it'll amount to anything more then a very well done prank and nothing more. Considering all the other crazy and sometimes very convincing april fools pranks video game companies have pulled off in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if that is indeed the case.

Do I want this game to be real though?
Sure, why not. The concepts and characters shown here look very intriguing
and full of potential for something neat,
Though without having a real idea on how this all works exactly, I can't say much more then that.

I have some ~theories~ and headcanons (I think that's what the kids says these days?) about the new characters and what could happen in Crazy Galaxy if it's indeed Real, and I need to get the stream of consciousness out of my brain. Why yes I have headcanons about a year-old april fool's joke, I never said I was a functional human being.


-The overal plot of the game is about Ashley learning to not be socially-retarded

-Claudia is an unhinged psychopath (have you seen that grin?); she's also loud and boisterous, the direct opposite of Ashley, Much hijinks ensue from the conflict in their different personality types.

-Due to Ashley's apparent status as a foodie, Coco is the first of the new characters she bonds with; however, the later finds it difficult to satisfy Ashley's very specific taste in food.

-Anna's ressemblance to penny is not coincidential

-Red is Ashley's guitar

-Orbulon makes an appearance, somehow.

-There will be different story branches depending on wheter you prefer to shoot/slice the aliens or have a nice chat over tea.

also which of the new characters is your favourite?

Anyways my super real totally confirmed theory is that its an idea that was thrown around and they wanted to see how it would look and if everyone and their mom wanted this it would happen.

Sorry to keep derailing this, heh. There was a time where I was totally ok with Ashley getting a spin off. After a while I was pretty much resigned to 'Well she is popular so it would only make sense I suppose." I always had a feeling her popularity was like the "wrong" kind of popularity but well I didn't think it was anything too bad. Now...I'm kind of worried what would happen if these rabid fans were to get a bone thrown at them.

I'm sure a good chunk of that audience would be upset she looks different and is no longer a little girl

Beside, don't think about the social media crazies. Think about *your* local crazy, in the singular *singularly awkward wink wink and nudge nudge*
 
gee, I hope if Ashley gets her own game it won't end up being Japan exclusive, since the majority of her popularity is over there and that's where the idea of Crazy Galaxy originated from, and since Japan gets way more Ashley stuff than we do
 
Hello, I am here reviving this very dead thread with something interesting I noted. As you may know, in WarioWare Get It Together you can give prezzies to characters to improve their job title, and they may like or dislike these presents. There's a prezzy in the game called the Electric Guitar, and it looks like this:

As you may notice, Red loves this item, even more than Mona who actually has an electric guitar. I was wondering why that is, until I realized something:

This is probably a reference to Ashley's guitar in Crazy Galaxy, which is most likely just Red transformed. If this is actually what it's referring to because I really can't think of anything else Red has to do with a guitar, that's really cool! It might just be something random (he does love roses and plates too, after all) but I like to think that this really is a reference to Crazy Galaxy. That is all.
 
I was almost expecting art of the crazy galaxy ashley in the unlockable concept arts. There's none but I did notice two very subtle nods to it in there

The skull Ashley is holding has almost the same design as her hair ornaments and the one on her guitar

. She also has the messier hair with split ends like she does in CG.


Not sure if they're intentional nods as much as elements originating from the Crazy Galaxy artwork that subconsciously got reused here.. still worth noting either way.
