thanks for compiling all these resources. i love reading articles and interviews like these, and i'm sure it'll be helpful for people new to the franchise.

i think it's pretty interesting that they're still sorta marketing warioware gold 4 months+ later. all those promo videos and now this nintendo dream interview. i don't know why they're doing it, but i love them for it.

That does indicate to me Nintendo is finding the game's performance (at least in Japan) satisfactory. I don't think they were running ads for Ever Oasis 3 months after the fact

I find it interesting that between this, those characters trailers and that band brothers P contest, nintendo is marketing the warioware characters more that when the games were million sellers. it's sitll a pretty far bridge to having Ashley in Mario Kart, but....

for what it's worth Ithe penny storyboard is better drawn than the finalized artwork in several ways. It's possible Gold's art director forced bad stuff on him or that he was overworked due to doing more character art than usual + animating all the cutscenes by himself

o my bad

Yeah no, those sketches aren't bad, the hell you on about KDW?
What? I never said they were bad at all, I think they're great. I was just mourning the days when Ko's personal art style looked more or less the same as the pre-Gold Warioware art, like in those sketches.

I don't think Gold represents his "personal" art style necessarily, nor can we draw any comparisons between how he draws naturally today and how he did back in the early aughts (unless there's a bunch of non-commerical art he did back then that's still available). So I don't completely get your point. If anything I feel like those sketches represent his natural sensibilities as an artist more than Gold does

Anyone here got a Game Informer subscription? Turns out the December 2018 issue has a feature on WarioWare and the online preview for it has this quote from Goro Abe...

[Having the characters] speak fully voiced dialogue for the first time would advance the feeling that they exist and help players relate more to the game,” says chief director Goro Abe.
... which I assume relates to WW Gold, but the preview doesn't go that far. Would be know if there's more interesting stuff in there.

Nevermind!

Key points:
-Some of the graphics in the original games were placeholders the team decided to keep because they felt they fit the spirit of the game
-A new game is contingent on the success of WW Gold (uh oh)
-WW Gold has voice acting because the team wanted to give players more connections to the characters. Future games will not necessary have full VA.
-Goro Abe rules out porting Gold to the Switch.
-The Nintendo minigames use both assets made from scratch and stuff loaned by the original devs. Said devs also review the microgames for final approval.

Uh oh? I thought the game did really well and a Switch WarioWare would be a literal dream come true, especially since I finally have one.

Noooooooo!!!
