Thanks, though WL3 is finished from 2 decades and my hack is still not leaving the very first alpha stages while being based on WL3 lol. There's a long way to go till you could make comparisons. This romhack is legitimately just as good as the game itself, if not even better!
Today I just understood how to use the registerexec/write vba functions. If I had understood them before I would have not wasted half my time creating ridiculously complex code for something I could have written in two lines ... This is going to speed up programming tremendously, combined with ghidra and bgb's debugger (I learnt how to use them recently).
Hey guys, it's me Blanchon ! Main account was lost so I had to create another one. These past 2 years I worked on an unrelated project and couldn't do anything else than that, hence why the silence and absence of progress on my hack. But now I'm back once again for more WL3 hacking, writing a lua "editor" all day. This isn't ment to replace the original WL3 editor, more to learn more things about this game and give myself some tools to ease my life later. Currently reimplementing my old custom warp system (underlying code rewritten in assembly for convenience - first and last time i do this, **** it is hard), when I'm done I'll create an overworld editor and start designing it , also I'll port my janky code from previous script to this one and clean it. I made too much complicated and unpractical garbage systems in the beginning, having zero knowledge of the game's inner works (and having very bad programming practices too - still bad today !). If I want to finish this hack one day, i'd better start on a better base.
Some progress with the lua editor :
Next one should come soon in july I think, after some more backroom rage sessions.
It's rather for myself as I don't see the modding scene grow anytime soon. Except a few guys on discord hacking the game for speedrun practice and randomizer nobody seems to be interested in modding WL3. Frankly I'd prefer people go ham with WL4 because there's so much more potential in it.Gotta say, I appreciate all the work you're doing to make the modding scene for the game a reality. Wario Land 3 mods were both thin on the ground and rather unambitious till you started this project, with every video and set of screenshots just making things better and better.
