Wario Land references in the WarioWare series?

Surprised no one remembered this from that skateboard mini game:

Hmm, doesn't that background look familiar?

I thought so too. It's based on the foreground tiles in Mystic Lake from Wario Land 4. Based on the fish clouds, I guess this could be a blatant reference to the area or 9-Volt skating through it.

And this one:

Is based on Wildflower Fields:

Interesting.

9-Volt Land Confirmed?

Nah, although that would be interesting. Like a good version of that 'Back to the Future' game on SNES (or was it Mega Drive?)

Not exactly Wario Land and I sadly don't have a screenshot available (if someone could provide one I'd appreciate it), but among the NES stamps that you can use for microgame visuals in WarioWare DIY is a bomb sprite, which is taken from Wario's Woods, which makes for a second time that Woods has been referenced in Ware, the other one of course, being the Super Nintendo Cardridge microgame from Smooth Moves.

I counted them down in my impressions post on the Wario Blog, but I might as well mention the Wario Land references on Gold here as well:

Loot Scoot which was blatantly Land inspired has been promoted to a boss minigame.

-The new version of Driver’s Ed from Smooth Moves has Wario drive in his car from Land 4.

-18-Volt’s set includes a Land 3 microgame.

-The new version of Fly ’ n’ Fall from DIY and Wario Interrupts, feature appearences of Tiny Warios.

The game also puts a little more attention on Wario's treasure hunter site, then we are used to in the Ware series, outside of microgames.

I think the micrograme "Loot Scoot" is a reference to Wario Land (The Micrograme name is taken from WarioWare Gold, i Think WarioWare Inc. Had a different Name, but i dont remember)
