New Wario series sales thread

Some updates there and there: I added the UK sales number for Smooth Moves, the Media Create data for all of 2018 for Gold and the US weekly eshop ranking for Gold (thnx @TB100 00!)

UK software sales for the week ending Jan. 18th, 2020 sees a huge resurgence in 3DS software
Crazily enough, WarioWare Gold ended up becoming #6 on the UK charts last week. (Most likely due to the insane deals that have been surrounding the game over there as it's super cheap in some UK stores).

Makes me wonder... did any of the people who bought it cheaply end up becoming WarioWare fans as a result? Are there any people on the forum who first got into the series with this deal?

If so, that'd be awesome to see!

Entirely anecdotal but when that sale happened, I suddenly saw a lot more comments from UK twitter users going "Wow I never played WarioWare before, but this game sure is fun!"...

Okay, that's awesome. Here's hoping they discover Wario Forums too!

¡Fenomenal! So great to see people trying out the best video game series of all time!

Yeah, agreed 100%!

So far there's no hard data for Get it Together sales yet (the Japanese launch sales will only be available on Thursday). The game is #1 or near #1 in overal game sales on multiple Amazon stores and regional eshops and there are anecdotal reports of copies being sold out at specialized retaillers like Gamestop, so at the very least it appears to be far outpacing WW Gold. It seems launch stock was fairly low*.

UK game market analysis Chris Dring has just posted this on his twitter account (he may provide more details in reply to questions after I post this)

While the mention of "quite low sales" may be discouraging to some, it's worth noting Gold launched #39 in the UK and fell of the charts immediately after so this is an immense improvement. And WarioWare games are typically leggy rather than frontloaded.

*For hard data, a French Nintendo twitter account provided the launch shipment for several Nintendo games in France. GiT is 70k while, for comparison, Metroid Dread was 120k + 4k for its special edition, Mario Party Superstars is 350k and SMT V is 50k. However I cannot find the source post, but rather forum posts quoting it.

I can add onto the anecdotal reports at least: my Gamestop only had pre-ordered copies remaining the morning I went to pick it up. But yeah, Warioware's always been more of a "Pick it up whenever you feel like" than a "get it on launch" series to most. The digital sales are promising, though.

The game launched at the #1 spot in the UK but sales were noted to not be as high as other Switch games

Wario Ware: Get It Together was the best-selling boxed game at UK retail last week, according to the latest GfK data.

The Nintendo Switch exclusive did not need to sell a lot to get to the top, and in fact it's one of the softer Switch game launches this year. Its boxed launch sales are below that of Miitopia, which debuted at No.2 back in May.
Note that this is only retail data.

Funny, after you posted that a twitter acquaintance wrote this

Also Japanese retail estimates are in (COMGnet is a Japanese retail game chain). 50 to 70k is the expectation most Japanese market analyst had for the game's launch.

Japanese data for the September 6 to 12 period is out! GiT is #2nd behind the PS4 version of Tales of Arise with 72,277 copies (as with everything else, this is retail-only).

Not only this is a better than expected performance (most estimated it to sell around 50k), here is how it compares to other WarioWare launches in Japan

(not pictured: Game & Wario at 24k).

While not as high as the series heydays it is a more than respectable performance and Japanese retailers are expecting it to be a "evergreen" title, meaning one that sells consistenly over a long period of time. The next weeks will be interesting.

GiT was #3 in weekly video games sales in France

Edit: In Spain, the game was 2nd with a little over 4k copies sold at retail

9th in Australia

11th for its 2nd week in the UK.

5th in Italy

#1 in South Korea

WW GiT has sold 32,131 units in its 2nd week in Japan, bringing the total to 104.408 copies.

Unrelatedly to GiT's sales tracking, I was provided a file showing the top 100 Gamecube games in the US and their sales by 2007, which provides the final number for Wario World in the US (Mega Party Games did not make the cut-off so its LTD numbers are still of yet unknown):
