Freaking beatles : p They are my least favorite band ever all because of the way people treat them as the greatest thing to ever exist. If i hear one more person tell me paul mcartney was the greatest bass guitarist ever, I dunno what Ill do : p

Also, Imagine is not a great song. I know some people would be angered by that comment, but I stand by it : p

I know that bitter feeling. People are forever confusing "best" with most popular. The words "best ever" simply can't be applied to music. You'd be discrediting every other genre, style, and musician in history by giving such a title to a single rock 'n roll group.
Still, for every person that loves The Simpsons, there's a viewer or animator somewhere who feels the same way you, as a bassist, do about the Beatles.

As for me, I do like some of the Beatle's work, but it's the least popular Beatle, Ringo Starr, I grew up loving on TV and films as a kid. He's a terrific bloke and a fun personality.

@MonaWare @Angler of Lake Asparagus The Beatles are ok however they're probably the reason we ended up getting boy bands like the Monkees and so on afterwards. People also seem to forget there have been many other influential like the talented band Kraftwerk which has had a huge impact on modern electronic music, they're like the grandfather to stuff we've ended up seeing later in the west and in Japan as well. Autechre another electronic band from Germany as well has also had a bunch of hits during the 90s while Kraftwerk were all over the 70s and 80s.

I can respect the Beatles' for their impact on music and I do like some of their songs but yeah, having respect for a band and calling them the best should be two different things.

I went to hit the list button to see who rated your post, but my phone thought i hit "funny", just wanted you to know it wasnt what I meant to hit.

It's true. The Beatles were good, but are way overrated, as if they were the best music group to ever exist. Granted, their success was unprecedented for its time, but that doesn't make them undoubtly the best band ever. The Rolling Stones were just as good, and while they too have had an important impact on music, they are often looked down upon by Beatles fans.

And besides, the real bands of the 60's were The Kinks and The Doors, although they are rarely mentioned in popular culture.

Don't forget early Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, and The Ramones. A lot of bands at the time had mind blowing music however some just weren't as commercially successful which is why you might not see many people actually talk about these unless they were already fans of that kind of music or just music in general which music all around is amazing. Music truly is the people's language I feel as it's not a distinct thing amongst certain culture as it's everywhere and with that you get a lot of music influence.

Well, like all things it depends on where you live, really. The Doors pops up on the box and radio fairly regularly over here. Same thing goes for old TV shows that rarely screen in native countries anymore... yet constantly, ceaselessly air elsewhere in the world during daytime hours... Everybody Loves Raymond, I'm looking right at you, pal!

This masterpiece is among the best songs I have ever heard, both lyrically and instrumentally. Seriously, Hornsby's piano skills are godlike.

That's just the way it is.
