obligatory "What vidcons are you playing????" thread

Ive heard about the pressing in the control stick to jump, yeah

the left trigger makes you jump. the quirks in Gunvalkyrie's controls are much deeper (and dumber)

The game technically has aiming mapped to the 2nd stick, but it doesn't work like your average FPS/TPS. Basically, it moves a crosshair on the screen (like if you were playing a light gun game) and kinda veers your character on the side, but it doesn't actually rotate. To change your heading, you have to press in the stick to rotate 90 degrees.

What really makes it uncomfortable, though, is that the game has a "combo system". When you use your jet pack, you can press in the left stick to boost forward, backward or to the sides. If you do this, fire your weapon and then change direction, you rack up combos that make your main gun more powerful. This means you have to press in *both* sticks at the same time if you want to do any serious damage and get good rankings. gunvalkyrie was made to ruin analog sticks

I remember /something/ about pressing in the joystick to move : p

And ugh, that sounds awful : / Will check the price before buying and see if its worth the price : p The game itself looks great though. Hopefully the controls dont ruin it for me.

Ive played alot of games that people complained about controls, though : p (And liked them, I mean) So I might enjoy it even with wonky controls : p

Playing Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. It already fixes my biggest issue with War for Cybertron; the graphics are more colorful, and nowhere near as depressing to look at. Ironically, I thought WFC had its depressing graphics make some sense, but hey.

Youve been playing Transformer games for a while now, right? Am surprised you arent bored of it yet : p

Ive been playing Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox lately, and I was way into it. I thought it was an awesome game. Dunno if Im gonna finish it, though. Like, I dont like games where you get to a hard battle, and have to keep trying it over and over until you win, I lose interest in that. And yeah its an RPG, but its not a game where you can back track and level up, you just have to keep fighting the battle over and over again, it makes me feel helpless and frustrated, NOT feelings I wanna have whne playing a game : / So it was a good game, anyway. Am kinda tired of it, now : p

Nanobreaker is an hack-n-slash game made by Konami and produced by the Castlevania guy. The cheesealicious plot is that you're a genocidal supersoldier send to a remote island to fix a supercomputer that's using nanomachines to turn everyone in bloodthirsty cyborgs. It's uncanically similar to Metal Gear Rising, featuring a similar cyborg/dismemberment theme and an antagonist who looks way too much like Sundowner.

I like it well enough so far. A cool aspect is the combo cuztomization system: by finding colour-coded "combo chips" scattered around the environements, you can choose what type of attack you can use next in the combo flow chart. admitelly I haven't played that many 3D action games, but I thought it was a cool way to let you customize your fighting style to a certain degree.

It's also the one game in existence that keeps track of how many gallons of blood (technically oil, but they're not fooling anyone) you've spilled. How stupid/awesome is that.

Thats the most unnecessary thing ever : p

so today I tried my first Resident Evil game. Turns out my mom had RE Zero for gamecube : p So I took it and tried it out, and surprisingly I kinda liked it : p The items really annoy me though, not having enough space for items and not having a box to save them in, meaning I have to drop them and come back to where I dropped them later if I ever want them back. Thats really a huge and un-fun pain. Bit the game was actually fun : p

But, Im not gonna play it. And the reason is is that it takes place in the mansion from the first game. I wanna play the first one now : p So will wait to play it then play Zero : p

I received an email from GOG saying they were selling my favourite third-person shooter for $1.50. How could I not.

I'd go in a long-winded post explaining why Slave Zero is the shit, but fortunately there's a youtuvbe vid that does just that

Ive actually heard alot about that game, never seen it before though. Looks way fun though, is too bad its a PC game : p (The dreamcast version looked terrible : p)

Ive been playing Wrath Unleashed for the original xbox. Its an alright game, not as much fun as it looked, but its a really neat idea. You play as these fictional demi gods who command different monsters in a D&D gameboard kinda game. It kinda feels like mage knights or whatever : p But when one of your creatures lands on a tile with an enemies creature, it takes you to a battle screen, where you fight in a street fighter like match. It can feel kinda awkward though, like trying to fighting with a unicorn, it doesnt always feel.... good I guess: p And I liked the idea of choosing an element as an army, like you can be a demi god of wind fire water or earth, but for the most part they all use the same troops, and theres really no difference between them other than what tiles give them an advantage.

Its a good game, but its not really great. It kinda loses its turned based strategy game feel with the fighter game battles, and it can feel kinda dull at times, too. But its worth the 8$ youll pay for it : p

So I found this at a good price-

I decided since I actually enjoyed Zero a bit, and I cant get the older ones until I can order them online, I could try this one out while I wait. I already knew it wasnt actually like the previous installments, so I figured it wouldnt hurt to play this one first : p
Its pretty neat, its like an over the shoulder 3rd person shooter action game. I dont think its worth all the love it gets, I mean its good and all but not the best thing Ive ever played : p But I am enjoying it, and I do think its a fun game.

This thread name is confusing as hell, what are we talking about? Games that you bought at a pawn-shop or something? Everyone here looks like they're playing old video games.

If you would've read a few of the first few posts it'd be clear. It's just whatever games people have been playing lately. Not everyone is always playing the newest games.

Late to the game, but I just finished MGS Ground Zeroes (Can't believe the story portion took an hour yet they originally charged like $30 for it - Glad I waited for a sale) and am just getting to the open world/mission stuff in Phantom Pain. I'm not a Metal Gear fanatic (Played through most of Twin Snakes and snippets of 3 and 4, while 2 is the only one I played to completion), but I like the format and mechanics of this one sooooo much more. I'm a sucker for open world games, and ballooning guards back to your base is very satisfying.

I'm also in the later portions of the PS4 version of Gravity Rush, which I barely touched on the Vita, but really enjoy now. Though I feel modern games are the best mechanically, I feel that the PS2/Gamecube era was the peak of creativity and charm in the actual game aesthetics. Gravity Rush really feels like a throwback to the quirkier titles Sony made back then, and it's really fun and unique in its own right as well.

Finally, on a whim, I downloaded the Wii U VC release of Trauma Team and played a few levels, and it's really intriguing me. The original DS Trauma Center didn't interest me as much, so this sequel feels like a definite step up.

Silent Scope Complete is a compilation of Silent Scope 1-3 and EX + their PS2 extras (minus a multiplayer mode in Silent Scope 2). It's a great compilation, but the game I'll talk about specificaly is the first Silent Scope.

May fans of arcade game says the only way they make sense is to play to completion with one credit, and in my mind, there's no better illustration of this than the first Silent Scope. Silent Scope with unlimited continues is a timewaster with a cute gimmick. Silent Scope on one credit is an hellish race against the clock. You have a timer at the top of the screen and running out of time means game over. At the begining, killing every single dude add time to your clock, but by the end, you need to clear whole rooms to get tiny additions to the timer, so you need to be ridiculous efficient all the time. A new player will likely waste tons of time trying to get headshots on every enemy, but as you progress, this makes ways to a frantic pace as you move from target to target with machine-like precision, shoot unscoped when youy have to, and BRAINKILL* bosses within 5 seconds of their introduction. I've never been more "in the zone" while playing a game.

I have never even tried an on rails shooter in my life : p Dont think Id enjoy it : p

And haha, Ive never played a FE game outside of easy : p Well maybe Path of Radiance but not Radiant Dawn : p

I try playing other stuff but people keeps inviting me for some tf2. I have put in 3,592 hours on the game and probably placed in way too much money then I should have but it's so fun. I'm mostly playing Slender Fortress due to everyone inviting me to it, but I do still play some pub and other stuff the game has to offer.
So mostly everyday I'm stuck playing Team Fortress 2 with a few people on Slender Fortress, always being the last person alive... As the class whose supposed to be the enemies top priority of killing.
