Upcoming Game Reviews for WarioWare Gold

Legendary Thief
Reviews for WarioWare Gold have been looking pretty good so far:

8/10 - Game Informer
8.5/10 - Gaming Boulevard
8.5/10 - Nintendo World Report
“Liked” Rating - GameXplain
32/40 (8/10) - Famitsu
7.5/10 - Jeuxvideo.com

But, there have been some more average ratings given to the game too:

7/10 - Gameblog.fr
6/10 - My Nintendo News

Also, Metacritic is currently displaying the game with an average rating of 74, but this is because only 4 reviews have been counted up so far, so the score should increase when the other reviews listed here are recorded down.

There’s also the fact that the game has only launched in Europe and Australia, so we should see reviews from other publications such as IGN and GameSpot closer to the NA release.

Back to Metacritic though, where do you guys think the game’s rating will land when all is said and done?

It looks like we will see a very positive review from GameSpot:

We should note that the 6/10 review was by a reviewer who seemingly only played Smooth Moves and expected this to be more of a multi-player game. Not to diminish their opinion at all, just something to keep in mind.

Yeah, I’ve read the review and it was pretty clear that she isn’t too familiar with WarioWare and how much of a single player experience the games usually are. If she had played more entries from the series before making the review, I could definitely see her giving it a higher score.

My guess for the final metacritic score is roughly 80. We'll get a few 85-90 scores, but also some more 70-ish ones... but the vast majority is probably gonna be between 80-85

Yeah, I definitely agree. An 80 or maybe even slightly higher sounds about right. I would be more than happy with a score like that, especially considering it would be a massive improvement compared to the previous entry, Game and Wario’s metascore of 61.

It's doing pretty well, though to be honest it's the type of score we all knew was coming for this game. WarioWare has very rarely gotten bad or mediocre reviews, at least outside of Snapped and Game & Wario.

Either way, I hope to be finished with my own review sometime soon, and that will be pretty positive about the game as well.

My initial fear was that critics would be a little harsh on the game because of the amount of microgames reused or because of the short length of the story mode, but I have rarely seen them bring up such things so far.

I look forward to reading your review btw.

Nintendo Life gave it a 9/10, it's highest score so far.
Nintendo Life said:
WarioWare Gold is proof that there's life yet in the venerable 3DS line of handhelds. The microgames on offer are some of the series' best, and the fully-voiced cutscenes in the Story mode are hilarious. Challenge mode will give you plenty of reason to come back and the unlockable souvenirs are our favourite in the series to date. We would have loved to have seen this on Switch as well, but it's clear this game was designed for the 3DS from the ground up. With its absurdist humour, wonderful voice acting (courtesy of Charles Martinet, naturally), immensely satisfying gameplay and stern challenges - many of which will make even the most seasoned players' palms sweat - WarioWare offers something for everyone. If this does turn out to be the 3DS' swansong, then it's going out on a high.

The Metascore went down to a 76 due to IGN’s 7/10 review, but it was able to rise back up a bit thanks to Nintendo Life’s rating of 9/10.

Well, just finished my own review of this game:

WarioWare Gold Review | Gaming Reinvented

Tried to cover as many angles as possible, as well as use media to illustrate various points. Either way, it's a solid 4/5 title, since it's the kind of game that's great fun for most people but likely limited for others audiences too.
Awesome review. I really enjoyed reading this and I pretty much agree with everything said. Plus, I can tell that a lot of effort and analysis went into it, so props to you for putting the time in to provide the best review possible.
