Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X were one of the first games I got on the PSP they are really fun and the fact that you could play as the other robot masters or in MHX Vile really gave you more variety. It made certain enemies and stages easier while others harder, this is something I kind of had hopes for happening in a later Megaman installment even now even thought about MN9 having this too but it wasn't the case.
Going back to the Megaman DoS games yeah if you still are up for it you can definitely play it, just know that just like the Mario and Zelda CD-i games don't expect much of anything other than laugh at the attempt that was made.
Vile has to be the most unique playable character in the series, I mean he breaks the game with the right setup, but it is a really cool playstyle and very different from the usual shooter or melee figther that you usually have available.
And yeah, that's honestly the entire reason why I'd even want to play the DOS games, they are just a curious laughable little piece of Mega Man history, that I'd play with a friend watching, while we just enjoy riffing em'.
Idk I just like edgy characters sometimes I really like Vile so having to play as him was really fun especially since you had your own arsenal of bounty hunter supplies that reminded me of Samus and not just adding on to your abilities by beating other Mavericks such as X did.
It feels funn since Megaman has had a large history of having some really weird games, not just the DoS games. I'm interested in not only playing the funny DoS games but Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future. If you're unfamiliar it's basically a game for the Wonder Swan(which was never released outside of Japan.) It basically is much like the original Rockman & Forte for the Super Famicom it even has music from said game(Burnerman's theme is even used.)
Just some different dimension robots come and attack and you pretty know the drill. Megaman and Bass pretty much play the same way as the first installment I guess you could call it for the Super Famicom. Ooop just scrolling in the older parts of the thread this was mentioned, wasn't there also another weird Megaman game called Megaman Soccer or one that had Astrological signs are robots. Can't remember their names.
I actually still think that Challenger from the Future is quite good, by no means a masterpiece, but for such an obscure title and on the Wonderswan of all systems you could do a lot worse.
The game itself looks alright, it's about the only game for Wonder Swan I know of aside from some random Klonoa game. The music is still pretty Megaman sounding which is good unlike the GB Megaman ll game.
For what it's worth I really like what fans can do with the Game Boy MM2 Soundtrack:
The compositions themselves really aren't bad, but they were ruined by horrible instrumentation and out of whack pitching (Air Man's theme espcially comes to mind with that).
I'm really interested if the original artist did the new box art for the GB games if at all? Metalman's theme in the GB games oh no, at least for some of the fan stuff it did sound ok.
I'm surprised I never said anything on this matter, but was anyone else pumped when this was first shown last year? I know I was, being a casual fighting game player that very much enjoyed the previous MVSC entries and loves Mega Man. It's especially great to see X here, not only because Marvel VS Capcom 3 neglected to have any incernation of Mega Man, but also because for whatever reason, it took until now for X to get into one of the traditional figthing game crossovers.
I tried to get into fighting games for 5 years but never could. Anyway, it's cool to see X be elevated from alternate skin to full fledged character. Really nice change of pace from the usual Classic or that stupid overplayed joke that is Bad Box Art Megaman.
@The Big Magma To this day I'm honestly still not sure what to make of Bad Boxart Mega Man, maybe it would have been more amusing if Mega Man Universe didn't pull the same joke before, I mean yeah that game got canned, but by that point the novelty was already lost.
I'm very cautious about whether or not I should hope for more MM representation in Infinity, I'd take anyone, though if Zero comes back I'd love for him to be based off his Mega Man Zero incernation, now that X is in the game to represent his sub series, SNK VS Capcom and Onimusha Blade Warriors did it before, so it's hardly unthinkable.
Love how cinematic the new MVC game looks however I'm still spectacle especially with how we had a new edition of MVC3 which was ultimate only adding a few new characters. It'd be ideal if they would add as much as how MVC2 had, a wide arrange of characters to choose from and form a team. The fact that X appears here as a playable character I'd assume since he's with Ryu gives me a bit of hope for the franchise to pop out sooner or later.
I guess I have some resentment towards bad box art megaman since it seems like Capcom was intent on overplaying that joke but since all Megaman projects at the time ended in 2011/2012 everything megaman related just stopped.
Ah yeah, it's that weird Mega Mini thing that's going to be in the new show, not a fan of the design, but who knows, could be a decent character in the end or at least a tolerable one.
It looks creepy, with the vast majority of helper and item giving robots Megaman uses in his games it's surprising they would create a cartoon original.
Listening to the Flutter vs Gesellschaft remix from Tatsunoko vs Capcom recently really put me into the Mega Man Legends mood again, in fact I just dusted off my PS2 to play the first game again, which makes me wonder: does anyone else here have any experience with the series?
In my case the first Legends is one of the earlier games that I remember playing (with my older sister no less) and it's the only one in the series that I grew up on, I didn't even know that there was a Legends 2 until much later and have yet to play The Missadventures of Tron Bonne, I was waiting for a european PSN release, which still hasn't happened, so I'll likely just buckle down and make myself a US PSN account, because trying to get a physical copy is out of the question for now.
But yeah I do have a gigantic soft spot for the Legends series, it's a big departure from the other series' due to it's 3D Adventure style of gameplay, but that's exactly what I find very refreshing about it, the first game was pretty much my gateway into the genre and I credit it for helping me to broaden my gaming horizonts, ouside of just plattformers amd puzzle games.
On top of that and the very different kind of story the series offers, Legends also has one of my absolute favorite casts of of characters out of all sub series, Vollnut is a seriously underappreciated Mega Man in my eyes and this Roll is my favorite version of the character, the Bonne family is great too, goes without question, Teisel in particular really knows how to crack me up.
So yeah, goes without saying that Legends 3 getting cancelled still saddens me, I'm not even expecting anything anymore at this point, Classic, X and ZX I could see getting another shot, but hoping for more Legends seems to be a lost cause, much to my dismay.
I haven't played the Legends series myself, but I've seen playthroughs of all of them, and I couldn't get enough of it. The games are really well-designed, and they have excellent writing. Especially the Bonnes. Every time they show up, the scene is instantly more entertaining. It's a shame Capcom decided Legends 3 wasn't worth the effort.
