Are all of the Ashley appearences leading up to something?

So, aside from some of you not being hyped. Will any of you guys get it once it comes to NA? I know I will. My Normal 3ds XL will have the old Ashley theme and my new 3ds XL will have the new one.

But I'm still gonna pay for the new theme for my normal 3ds XL just to boost up sales. Maybe it will lead into more Ashley based things, a 3rd theme maybe.
 
I'm gonna ramble a bit here, because Glowsquid brought up some very valid points about this 'importance' deal and it made me think, maybe the problem people have has more to do with what will happen to the series if Ashley takes over and that's why they use that as an argument?

It's a dumb concern because a few 3DS themes and badges can't compare to the money a game would make, but let's imagine she does end up becoming the mascot of a merchandise series and it turns out to be more rentable for Nintendo than keeping up Wario Ware games.

Wario was reduced to a wa version and his own series -where his character actually had some spine- was forgotten, and Mario became a clean-cut summary of what it used to be. We dislike what the series are now because what they used to be before was pretty damn good, and the potential a new game with that old spirit would have is huge. So it's not about 'preserving the integrity' of the WW series or what bunch of pixels deserves more love than the other, it's more being afraid that this slow change of focus would lead to good games not being made; not because the franchise didn't offer potential, but because pandering makes easier money. The basic idea that it gets ruined for factors other than its own quality, to put it simply. It happened before and it could easily happen again, so the concern might as well be valid, even if a bit too extreme given the little info we got as of now.

But now, let's imagine Ashley eventually gets her own game, and it turns out to be fucking GREAT. Would you be pissed off Wario Ware didn't get the recognition? I sure as hell wouldn't, because my priority here is that we get more good games. I'd prefer a good Ashley title over another Game&Wario.

Again this is all hypothetical rambling since I'm trying to make sense of it from a gaming perspective more than fandomy personal tastes, but yeah. I feel people are defending the characters as a big aspect of a good game rather than them being important on their own, if that makes sense? taking them away in favour of a single one might be just another way of 'flanderizing' a series that would have been perfectly fine otherwise. But eh, like I said, it's all down to how it's handled.

Whatever happens (if anything happens at all) I just want good games out of this :c

After some digging up I found the background from the new 3ds Ashley theme used (minus the Castle/Mansion and Red.) pretty nice, so I made this real fast. For everyone's favorite witch...Ashley. <3

i get what ur saying, but I want to comment on this:

1: as you yourself said, the effort and manpower in making simple merchandising tat vs making a full game is not comparable. It's not like they're funneling the entire WW team to make those 3ds themes. Opportunity Cost does not apply

2: nintendo drop series when they becomes unprofitable, not because they have similar things that sell better. otherwise they'd never make Kirby, DK, and Yoshi games alongside the 2D Mario platformers, or Mario sports spin-offs when Mario Kart handily outsell all of them combined

Oh yeah, completely agreed! proves the scenario to be even more unlikely.

I also doubt Ashley would push the sales enough to become the focus of the series, so that's also out of the question as a possible scenario. I know it's hard to trust Ninty these days, but I think it's safe to say the series will go when it has to go, and thats alright. A dumb decision won't kill it because... well, they wouldn't make said dumb decision in the first place.

Gonna buy it if it hits Europe, both to support Warioware AND because it's a character I like.

Badge Arcade in NA got the Valentine's Badges. Nikki, Isabelle, the Mario character chocolates. all positioned that require you to spend to get them all. Awesome, right?

NO ASHLEY. THE ONE CHARACTER WE DIDN'T GET.

NoA doesn't think she's profitable apparently and NoE just goes with the flow. You have nothing whatsoever to worry about. Anything like that would be Japan-only because round-eye doesn't like cute characters.
 
Well, the themes will probably hit other places some time down the road. I think Ashley's last theme was on the best sellers, so why wouldn't they bring it here to NA? I'm gonna buy both themes for both my 3ds.

I'm spreading the news around in Google + just to get the word out. Hopefully this theme will do well enough. As for the badges I don't really mind really, it just means I get to keep my money...until it does come to NA, my wallet is not looking forward to that day, but I am.
 
Whoa, I didn't think you wanted those that badly. As for me, I know they will show up sometime down the road, so I don't try to talk about them often so I don't jinx myself or something.

We'll just have to wait. I'm only happy because the more Ashley japan get's, the more likely she'll even have more things that'll crossover to NA sooner or later. She'll have to get way more popular in japan than she already is. So we'll probably get more Ashley too down the road. Just gotta wait.
 
Perhaps they are waiting for the best time to release them. Since we didn't get the other Ashley badges, they think it'll be all out of order if they bring out the new one. So probably we'll get them all bundled with each other, something like that anyways.

That's not how this works. The badge is Valentine's themed. If they're not bringing it out now, we're not getting it.

The fact that Isabelle and Nikki are placed that you're REQUIRED to buy turns to dig them out is annoying too.

Alright, I'll let you lose faith while I wait. It'll be worth it when it does come, just wait. Even if it takes a whole nother year
