You said you used a save state to skip the boss fight, that's what I meant. I just realised what I wanted to test wouldn't work anyway though.

Ok, uploaded 2 more save files to "Wario Land 3 Hack Folder / Wario Land 3 SAVe Files and Save States"

We're making a wario land 3 hack, and even if the editor may not be fully functional, without it we wouldn't be able to do hardly anything at all!

Okay, I'm very confused right now. I tried to change the item set used in the vast plain somewhere, but it just doesn't save. I change it from C to 48, press enter and ok, and when I go to it again or play the rom it's C again. :mad:

Also, did anyone find sprites other than the level names and the block tiles using YYCHR?

I didn't know my twin brother ShyFuyXXL was working on the game. :U
I actually laughed out loud there while watching :p
 
Well, we haven't started creating real levels for the hack yet, right? So you should just be able to upload your rom to the drive folder (pm me with your gmail) and update it whenever you have a new something done. Then, when we actually start working on the levels and such, we'll just use that rom with your sprites.

But so far I only know a few things I could change. The music coin and some treasures. And I don't know how to change either of those.

I got an idea.
We should make this hack avaible in both japanese and english! That way, japanese gamers can play it too. And we could make our hack more popular that way.
Can we do it?
Well, in order to do it, we have to:
  1. Find a person who will be our translator. We can't just use Google Translate
  2. Use YY CHR to edit level names for both the english and japanese versions. We can do it easily.
  3. Edit the japanese dialog text. This is where we run into a problem. The Editor doesn't have that function.
 
Also, I'm going to take the time and search for graphics in the rom

And I'm wondering if we can really have it in the game.
Well, if we do, we would need to re-write it a bit.
For example, Rudy is calling himself "Rudy The Clown", but at the same time, he is saying that the has the power to save the universe. That's kind of... not so good in terms of story...
Maby he should just simply call himself Rudy. Also, he should say : "I can fix the Space Time Hole" inmstead of just the vague "I can save the universe"

I also really like your story. Please though, in the final version, change the oh my gosh. It's unnecessary, and we don't want to turn people off right at the beginning of the game.

Another thing, what difficulty are we going to have? Because most SMW hacked roms are harder than the original. So we could choose to either make it so anyone who played Wario Land 3 can play it, or make it so that anyone who has experience with platformers can play it. We certainly shouldn't make it proffessional/Kaizo level, that way there just won't be enough people that are interested in it.
I myself think that we should make it as a game that you can play instead of Wario Land 3. So even people who have never played it yet, can learn the games physics.

We'll see about the name, because we didn't actually make any levels yet. But I suppose it'll be appropriate anyway. It could go as a title for the original too though. I'll think about it, I also don't think we have to make the title definite yet. (although it would be better to refer to it as "Adventures in the music box" than "hack", as we do now :P)
Also, no, we probably won't get a reply that soon, because he was last active september 27th. But I'm actually quite happy with september 27th, because I was afraid he wouldn've have been on in a year or so.

Well, this story that i wrote is kind of meant to be a sequel to Wario Land 3. However, i think we should go with the same difficulty as the origional, and make it possible for those who didn't play the origional to paly the hack.
We could kind of increase the difficulty a little bit for some of the optional treasures thought...

Of course increase the difficulty for the optional treasures, but absolutely no Kaizo level, as I said.

No Kaizo, of course. But we could have a few tricky West-Creater-Green-Chest-Like platforming missions. We could have a few tricky mazes, a few Town-In-Chaos-Green-Chest-Like switch puzzles. We can make owl mazes a bit harder, we can make some vine climbing/jumping a bit harder.
Overall, i think we could make the game slightly harder than the origional, as long as it's not too hard.

By the way, i had this idea of putting the golf game at the very beginning of the cloud level and forcing you to play golf for all 4 treasures of that level. It's probably bad design, right?

I can understand you. We might make it different.
However, I do want a custom story, becuase I want to use the feature, show off what we can do.
And the story i tryed to write is to vaguely explain how Wario explores the same, but slightly different world, and why it seems like it all happened before.
We might make it different. Considering the story of the game isn't importhant (it's only in the beginning and ending, not the main game), writing a story will probably be one of the last things we do

Yeah. In that case, let's not do what Above The Clouds did. It put the golf game at the very beginning of the level, and the player had no idea what treasure chest will require the golf game. Let's not do that.
In the Vast Plain, the player is required to play Golf Twice. Let's not do that as well
I just did some more research. The origional game makes you play golf to get 12 treasures in the game. TWELVE! This might be a bit to much. We could decrease it.
We can also make some optional gold in some levels, that only rewards you with music coins (or as ShyGuyXXL re-designed them, Wario Coins).

Last thing I wanted to say right now:
I was bored during my history lesson at uni today, and I drew this:

I got an idea for a story.
If we can change the background inside the temple then how about this?:

Once Wario wakes up in the temple there's the old man/wizard guy from the ending in the background but he has been turned to stone.
He tells Wario that Rudy returned and turned him to stone and the other people into brainwashed monsters. Then he says that Rudy escaped to the outer world and wants to turn everyone into monsters and that Wario needs to use the music boxes again to stop him.

But in the end it turns out it was just Rudy again and he fooled Wario into helping him again. ^^

Maybe we can add another detail that explains why everything has been reset. ...or maybe we just leave it at that.
