[DEAD] Wario Land 3 Hack Project

Alright, I'm tired
Also, i worked on this when I was suppose to be doing homework.

I wrote a custom story, edited the credits, changed 2 levels named, and changed the music in a few places.
Video coming soon.

Okay, so here are the finished coins. ^^

So I guess if only one person can work on the rom at a time maybe I should just give you guys the sprites and whoever is working on it should put them in by copying them pixel by pixel.
I don't know.... is that more or less work than sending the rom back and forth and waiting for one person to finish their work?
 
UPDATE!
I finally figured out how to change the colors of the letters in the credits!

So, as I sayd, there are 7 possible color pallets. Each pallete is editable.
And each tile can be assigned a pallete. I thought this feature was broken.

But no!
You just have to enter the numer, AND THEN PRESS THE ENTER BUTTON ON THE KEYBOARD!

*facepalm!*
I never thought of pressing enter! I just expected there to be an "Ok" button or something!

Well then, I'll try to create some nice looking credits now.
I know that this is just a test, and the finished credits will only be made at the end of development.
But man, I feel stupid for not thinking of pressing enter

Aniway, I'm going to create the video now, and show you the experiments i made
 
Man. I really wanna show of what I made. But the problem is:
I'm having trouble recording it!

Cam Studio does terrible sound quality, and so does Hypercam!
Open Broadcast Softward records high quality video and audio, but for whatever reason, it makes the video very tiny!



Please help me

Well, we haven't started creating real levels for the hack yet, right? So you should just be able to upload your rom to the drive folder (pm me with your gmail) and update it whenever you have a new something done. Then, when we actually start working on the levels and such, we'll just use that rom with your sprites.

Why don't you just use Fraps? :confused:
(I'm not editing this in my previous post because I'm afraid wariolandgoldpiramid won't see it, because he's online right now)
 
Ok, and now OBS records the audio, but doesn't record the video at all! :(

Now I can finally record the video I wanted to record! :D

Alright, finally!
I had a lot of trouble creating this video!
I just hope it was worth it

In the video, i show off
  • Custom dialog text for a custom story (it was hard to do, cause it glitched up, but i solved the problem :) )
  • Custom level names (done by editing the graphics)
  • Re-assigned music in a few places (just because I can)
  • Custom credits (COLOR PROBLEM SOLVED! :D )



EDIT:
I used save states to get to the end of the game, and to scip the boss fight (i didn't want to fight it on camera).
When I loaded to the point on the overworld, it played the old music, because the savestate was made after the music was already loaded. Reloading the overworld map fixed it.

Also, please forgive me for the typos I made in there!
 
Awesome! Really though, there's nothing wrong with Fraps. What's your problem?
I really like the dialogue, but I think we should remove the "oh my gosh" because it might offend some people (and it's not that needed anyway, because it's clear he's happy to see wario again :p)
The colours from the credits look so cool! It's great. It's too bad it doesn't have the right length compared to the musig though, but we'll figure that out later (as in, think up stuff to fill in the last few staves (is that the word for that?) so the "presented by warioforums" lines up with the final chord again).

Edit: Did you upload the before and after rudy defeat save states to drive? I would like to test something.

I tryed my best to make these credits the correct lenght. I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same as it was in the origional game. But if you're sure it doesn't, don't worry, we can sort it out easily. These credits are obviously just for testing purposes.

I'll upload this hack now.
And I didn't really understand, what savetsates do you need?
I uploaded the 100% (all treasures collected) to Drive. Dont understand what you mean by beore/after rudy thought

My experimental hack was uploaded to "Wario Land 3 Hack Folder / wariolandgoldpiramid's folder".
I'm going to bed now.
And I'm not going to touch the editor for a while now, this little project exsausted me

You said you used a save state to skip the boss fight, that's what I meant. I just realised what I wanted to test wouldn't work anyway though.
