[DEAD] Wario Land 3 Hack Project

I made a short video showing off the Unused Flower in Wario Land 3.
The object's data is loaded in The Tidle Coast, but it's not present anywhere in the level.

Object Set 12, Object 4

Even thought they aren't much of a challange, we should put them in the game

I keep trying to be productive, but getting distracted by unexpected turns :p I guess that's kind of productive too though, I'll make a youtube video of the things that I find cool ;)

Damn you, wariolandgoldpiramid! XD
I also just uploaded a video showing off the flower among some other things.
I also made a slope in the sewer section of the peaceful village to try out how the slope stuff works and as you can see the snakes in pipes thing works but they do stick out.

Haiko, what is a .clt? Also, could you, if you didn't do it somewhere yet, upload your 1-1 rom to the Example/Question/Showoff Roms folder?
I'm currently waiting for a video processing, by the way, and I reinstalled visualboyadvance, and it works much smoother now.

I believe .clt is a VBA cheat code file.

lol, ShyGuy. We both did the same thing :p
Also, those are some weird pallets :p
And i think that if we redesign the pipes a bit, we can cover up the snake sprite

EDIT:
ShyGuy, your video has some video/audio de-synch...

by the way, does anyone find my username to long? Or to hard to remember? :p
Hard to remember, definitely not. Too long? Maybe, we need a shorter nickname for you :p

Here is the video I made on my new interesting weirdnesses. I might make more of these.
Also, wow, just plain making levels is so fun! And addicting too! I could spend hours on out of the woods alone!
Maybe we can divide a bit of the levels already? Because I would actually like to begin making something fairly soon. And then, just, as you said, take turns on editing the rom. Someone makes a level, the other people just do research and play around, and when the someone is done with the level, someone else can continue on the ROM with another level.

Making levels already? We haven't really designed any levels yet...

I think they should be designed on paper, or in Paint before they are created in the editor.

Yeah, sure. I feel so useless when making practice levels though, because we aren't actually going to do something with them :p

It's not useless, because you're getting EXPerience :p
Think of it as doing a little grinding and level-ups before going into a dungeon :p

But, seriously, Wario Land 3 isn't a Mario Game, or Wario Land 2, with liniar levels.
This is a game where the levels need to be
  • Explorable
  • No points of no return - every point of the level must be acsessed from another point of the level
  • Variety in things in the level
  • Locked paths, that get unloced exactly how they got unlocked in the origional game
  • Lots of puzzles, that we need to design
  • and more...
So you can't just design levels that easily.
There needs to be a lot of thought, and balance with other levels.

By the way, I'm going to create a Treasure Map, that shows the exact order that you get the treasure chests, and what chests unlock others, and how the treasures effect the levels
I think we need it. It would keep things organized, i think

I know. But I have no idea how to fix it. VisualBoyAdvance isn't the best thing for recording but right now it's all I have. Doesn't matter anyway. It's just for showing off what I got.
Also the palettes are just temporary, of course.

If you want to record through VBA itself without audio de-sync, you need a Version of VBA called VBA ReRecorder.

EDIT: Also, if you want better quality, I recoment just rendering the video in any videi editor. Windows Movie Maker works wonders sometimes.

I think I'll draw something tomorrow, then make a practice stage.

Thank you for that piece of confidence you gave me :)
Yeah, you're absolutely right about the level design, I'll have more practice.
Yes, that treasure map is a great idea. From most levels I remember what got changed in them later, but when, en what chest the change gives access too, I really don't know.

Okay. But for now it's good enough.
