[DEAD] Wario Land 3 Hack Project

I got it! :D

Question: Can you change the properties of enemy attacks?
Like for example, changing the ice of the polar bears so that it sets you on fire?
If we can do that then I have some ideas for custom enemies. ^^

Hm... Not with the current editor, right?

AWESOME! Trying out the level/object editor, and I must say: it's definetly not THAT hard. I mean, it's quite time consuming, but nothing compared to making a full fledged Game Maker Game, a Pokemon Ruby hack where you have to code every little thing, or a Super Mario 64 or Banjo Kazooie hack where you have to create all objects AND the entire 3D model of the stage.

Furthermore, I'm definetly interested, I'll let you know when I've decided.

Hey, your new! :D
Welcome to the forums! :D
We hope you enjoy your stay! :D

And let me just say I'm humbled that this is where you posted your first message on the forum :)
Thank you for showing interest in the project :)
I'll add you to the list in the first message of this topic :)

Would you like to introduce yourself in the Welcome To Wario Forums section?

Also, i assume this is the place where you wanted to post this message, and not in My WL3 ideas :p

Alright, so...

My interests, if I were to join, would be Stage Design and Stage Concept and Gameplay Design.

Here's a quick video I of a Stage I made in about an hour, based on 1-1 from Super Mario Bros (Based, not remade).

It's not really that amazing quality though, as 1: I didn't edit it, and 2: I didn't record on my right laptop. (could also be because I just uploaded it :p)

Ow, lastly: I can also make Trailers for the game if you need any!

For being just a concept demo, and made in short amount of time, it's a pretty nice recreation of 1-1 :)
Continue practising and messing around with the editor, and I'm sure you'll learn more and improve.

Also, I'll tag Stage Design/Consept as Level Design :p

Cool! That's much more clever than any levels I've made yet :p The ladders look a bit weird though, because they have a different background than the rest of the level. Also, I don't like how you basically just have to restart if you jump down to the door before getting the key. But this was just a quick test, I guess ;) Very nice though, you're better at it than me already

Why did you attach that screenshot to your post though? (and what OS are you using?)

Edit: Wow, two ninjas... xD

It was indeed a quick stage, I made it just to mess around with it a little.

On a different note: if anyone wants to pick up the editor again: here are a few things that need to be improved:
1: It would be very nice if there would be the ability to instantly wipe a sector to ONE specific sprite. This way you don't have to manually make everything one sprite. I'll look into it, but I've never used Java before for programming, so don't expect anything major.
2: The ability to see which Keys or Chests you've placed down, self explanitory.
3: I music importer/replacer would be nice...

Yeah, I want that third point... Because for now there doesn't seem to be a way for me to compose music for the game :(

We already have 7 potentiol developers :)
While we haven't really even pre-production, some of us are already trying, and learning the skills :)
This is nice :)

I'd like to get everyone's opynion of what 607 sayd earlier. 607 sujjested I be the director of the project, because we'll have different people working on different aspects of the game, and we might need a direcotor to keep the project flowing, and everyone are connected and stuff...

What do you guys think? Do we really need a director? Or will we need one later? Maby we should have more than one?

Opynions, please

You kind of know my opinion ;)
A problem I'm seeing about working together on this hack, is that I don't really know how multiple people would work on one rom. I mean, as long as we don't have a way to import and save graphics and levels.. there's only one rom we would work on, and only one person could work on it at a time.

Well, if there is one thing I've learned is: you can't actually work on a game with multiple people without a director.
You see, you need someone to keep everyone working on a job, such as creating a stage, creating text, names, music.
If you don't have a director, people may (or may not) start working on a stage without knowing someone else is ACTUALLY already working on it, do you understand what I mean? There needs to be someone to be like: yes, someone is already working on that/ that thing is already done, or no, that's not done yet/ being worked on.
