Because we can't talk about Wario all the time, eh?

I'm rather glad I got New Super Mario Bros U as part of the MK8 free game promo, as I'm not overly impressed by it. Good level design can't mask the fact that over the course of four iterations, I've been playing games with largely identical assets, featuring largely similar powerups and enemies that are identical in assets, properties and AI. And while the background graphics have been greatly improved, it does little to mask the repetition, as the world themes are still mostly the same and played in the same order, and neither do the increasingly recurring level gimmicks (How many "dark cave with static light sources" stages am I going to play through?). For their oft-critcized repetitious nature, the Mega Man and Armored Core sequels at least introduced a notable amount of new assets to interract with. NSMB can't really claim that.

As an aside, I found a pretty neato site for keeping track and showing off your game collection. Darkadia dot com features a visual presentation of your games, has very extensive custom filtering options and adding new stuff is far less tedious than Backloggery. My only qualm is that there doesn't seem to be a built-in way to list games that are part of a compilation, though that's a really minor complaint overal. If anybody cares, here's my profile.

I saw your profile and all the games you have played are really cool! Especially that you got all the Mario Kart games! But dont you like RPGs or something I see zero Final Fantasy's and zero Pokemon games...

The listing isn't compelte yet. There's especially a ton of GBC shovelware I still need to add.

Your hunch is correct though. I generally dislike JRPGs ^_^.

At the moment, I haven't been playing too much unfortunately. I might buy a Wii U soon, but honestly, work and other things are causing me to not really have much time for video games in general.

I guess my own Mario game mod might count as a current game, but that's not so much something I'm playing for fun as much as playing for testing purposes.

Videogamez.

Oh, also, I got some games for my Xbox 360! Three, actually: Minecraft, ( Which I an enjoying a lot. ) Beautiful Katamari, ( Because of Masae's Let's Play. ( Although I somehow such at it more than her. )) and Terraria. ( Which I cannot play because I need to update the Xbox but it doens't have a internet connection AAARGHH. )

Hey! Sethbling plays Beautiful Katamari too!
I'm playing Minecraft of course, and at the moment Rayman 3 for GBA. Attempting to speedrun Ice Age for GBA and getting personal bests on Mario Kart Super Circuit time trials.
Playing Moto Heroz and Mario Kart Wii on Wii.
I also lately bought VVVVVV, but haven't really played it a lot.
Edit: Oh, and cookie clicker. Cookie clicker, yes.

I got Twisted Metal III in the mail.

The tiny-ass maps.

The jawsum soundtrack.

The motar weapons that do their best to not land on the target.

The input recognition so loose you're guaranteed to periodically launch a freeze missile or rear attack on accident.

The boss battles that can stunlock you when they feel like it.

It's all there, and I love it.

I'm playing Smash Bros. Brawl again and it's loads of fun (just like before)! Other games I'm playing are Rhythm Heaven Fever, Pikmin 2 and Wario Land Shake It!!. When I'm done with one of those games I'm going to play Punch Out!! for the Wii.

I guess I should update this, I've been playing mostly Donkey Kong Country (GBC) and Yoshi's Island (GBA) lately, and on the pc Re-Volt and Super Mario 63.

I have too many games to count on one hand. I've been playing Smash Bros. 3DS like crazy. Love that game!

I also got the PS1 version of Star Wars: Dark Forces from a resale shop of sorts. Not bad so far, despite that I generally don't like First Person Shooters much. Bought it because I'm a Star Wars fan.

Ace Combat 3 marks my first meeting in years with an old nemesis: Ps1 games dumb enough to give you a "not enough blocks to save on memory card" message without giving you the ability to access the bloody thing. WHY

(Though granted, I probabbly should've tried to save before doing 7 missions in a row :V)

Finally, finally, finally got the game I ordered in the mail! Honestly, I was starting to think the thing would never come. It's Puyo Pop Fever!

It's fun so far, though I can never resist making Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog-type references when playing. I'll let you guess why.

Beat Freespace 2. omg, this game.

Freespace 2 is handily the best combat flight game I've ever played and has quickly earned a spot in my favourite games of all time list. Everything comes together perfectly; the flight model, the soundtrack, the the theatrics. etc. The mission design is brilliant; nearly every mission has you escorting some big fish but it avoid the usual follies of escort missions by giving the escortee some manners to defend themselves and by creating a cool dynamic: By defending the capital ships from enemy fighters, they in turn defend you from enemy capital ships and their anti-fighter beams. It's a fun back-scratching dynamic.

The game's 15 or so playable ship roster may seem paltry in comparison to some modern flight games, but it's a definite case of quality vs quantity. All fighter have precise tactical roles with the specs to match, and how you aproach a mission as a strike bomber is going to be very different that when playing as an interceptor. This is in star contrast to console flight games like Ace Combat where the plane are essentially a succession of "bigger sticks" and there's no reason to pick an early game craft in the late game except for bragging rights. I'm not necessarily saying one approach is "better" than the other, but it's food for thoughts.

(Incidentally, can I request this thread to be moved to General Gaming?)

Well January 2. Has arived and a certain game has seen it's release in europe:

I've been devoting the entire day to this thing and I can safely say that this has been the most refreshing a Mario platformeresque game has been to me for quite a while even brushing my Toad fanboyism to the side.
It can be suprisingly challenging at times too, trying to rush throught like I usually would in any given Mario platformer or the Toad levels in 3D World has gotten me hit or killed on noumerous occations, which I like since enemys actually pose a threat for a change, rather than just beeing canonfodder for the player.
I love the puzzels, the main characters are adorable,it has some really cools set pieces at times, some of the new enemys are really cool (Mummy-Me<3 ) :

And the soundtrack is really great stuff too.
Part of that may be me beeing biased because of my already mentioned Toad fanboyism, bit as a Toad fan I'm happy with the game, very happy even and that's all I'm asking for.
