It's like... 9-Volt's long lost cousin 8.4-Volt.

More like his little brother 6-Volt.

I'm not as critical about the style as everyone else here, but yeah... I definitely think the series needs a new artist and art style. One closer to the older WarioWare games would be better.

Still, on a positive note... wonder what the storylines will be in this one? If they've got full voice acting, that might mean they'll be a bit more in depth this time around!

I just hope they don't put in too much story that it bogs down the already rather sluggish pace that this game looks to be going at.

Artwork of the characters shown in the trailer has been revealed and they definitely revamped the designs a ton.

>Looks at 9-Volt's design.

He started like a cool fresh gamer kid to a cutie gamer kid.

(HE'S SO GODDAMN CUTE. LIL' NINEY IS CUTIE AF)

(lil' fact: I did a comment about his design in Twitter, mentioning Ko Takeuchi, and he gave me an answer with a simple and normal "thank you".)

The shapes, yes, but the old designs used moderation and spacing in their lining. Look at that line surrounding the "V" on 9-Volt's shirt... It dominates the whole torso, and is something I'd never slip past quality control at uni. The lack of line variation looks extremely amateurish.
Yes, and some lines just end with the default-looking round end, instead of going pointy towards the end. SOME lines are thinner, but many aren't, even though they should be.
It really looks like they were done in a hurry.

Also, there's a weird inconsistency in regards to which parts are simplified and which aren't. Like, his fingers are all drawn out, even though they really didn't need to be, while his helmet is lacking a lot of detail. That also applies to Kat&Ana's hands. They are so weirdly... complex... compared to the rest of them. Why not give them simple hands? Or make their hands bigger? :/
Ashley's hands look weird and out of place too. Even Wario's fingers look kinda gross. I mean there's a reason you usually can't see a cartoon character's individual finger joints. :SConfused:
Then they re-used the Wario image from Game & Wario of him sitting in front of his laptop, which doesn't mesh well with the new front image of him.

I hope that this isn't because Ko Takeuchi is the only person having to make a TON of artwork for the game, without any help, so he has to rush it all out as fast as he can. I sometimes felt that way with Megamix, where a ton of sprites just felt rushed out, because he had to make so many of them. That would make it understandable why they seem so rushed. :/ Who knows...

...oh and 9-Volt's eyes look like that of a goldfish. :V

By the way, no one has mentioned yet that Wario seems to be doing some sort of Vlog in the cutscene we saw. Do you think the story might revolve around that?
Maybe he wants to make the big youtube money.
Maybe he'll make whacky, memey, cringey skits for the kids.
...and then he goes into the woods and finds a corpse and puts it online, ending his career. :wurgh:

I thought he was doing that to promote his new game in modern days.

I wonder if the large amount of microgames means that there's going to be more games per stage or perhaps more stages, I'd say all of the mainstay characters will likely have their own sets, unlike let's say Smooth Moves, where Jimmy had no unique games and merely hosted the first remix stage or how Dr Crygor's stage also borrowed from other sets. I would still like to also see gimmick stages like the Crygor's Smooth Moves stage though.

gimmick stages
STAHP calling them GIMMICKS people
Special rules then.
One "special rules" stage that I always really liked, and that I wonder why they never used again, was the Wario Watch.

I mean it's a simple change but very fun! :sgrin:
You play on a constant timer, the microgames don't end until you beat them, but you gain back some time after beating one. So the faster you are, the better.
And when you lose, you just don't gain any time back.
Of course, this means that only a specific type of microgame can work (ones that can potentially go on forever) but I bet there are a ton of microgames that could've worked in this mode, that they could use in WW Gold.
(If only the Boss of the stage wasn't so easy...)

I wish there were more "special rules" stages in general.
