[DEAD] Wario Land 3 Hack Project

I like the puzzle, the tileset, and the treasure :)
But i think this should be the Blue Chest instead of Green :p
Sure, we can easily change that around. I just made it the green treasure because that was the only one I didn't collect yet on that save file.

ShyGuy, should i add Gameplay Design and Programing to your name? :p

I didn't really do any programming though. As in actual coding. I was just putting the pieces together. That credit should go to Drenn. :3
But sure, go ahead and put me in at level design. ^^

Yeah, well, you see, the word Programming has another meaning, that's very commonly used among game designers :p
They use the word "Programming" as 'using the editor, editor if there's no coding involved'.
I've seen Lunar Magic and RPG Maker users use the word like that :p
 
Hmm... You mean 1 for each level, or we can have 1 for each of the level exits?
I mean we can change those things to different colors per tileset, so we could change things up and, if a stage uses different tilesets, make all the exits different colors. I'll make a video showing of what I mean in about an hour.

Well, I've done some actual programming in school, as in writing scripts in C# and it's a lot different from what we do. Changing stuff like which tiles are loaded for the music coin, that's more like programming.
But whatever, if that's how they do it then go ahead.
 
One thing that always bugged me about Wario Land 3 was...

In North, South and West, the levels are numbered in the order you unlock them:

N1 Out of the Woods
N2 The Pieceful Village
N3 The Vast Plain

And so on...

This beautiful pattern is broken in East.

E1. The Stagnant Swamp - 1st level you unlock
E2. The Frigid Sea - 2nd level
E3. Castle Of Ilutions - 4th level
E4. The Colossal Hole - 3rd level
E5. The Warped Void - 7th level
E6. The East Crater - 5th level
E7. Forest of Fear - 6th level

These levels are not numbered in the level you unlock them! It should be like this:

E1. The Stagnant Swamp
E2. The Frigid Sea
E3. The Colossal Hole
E4. Castle Of Ilutions
E5. The East Crater
E6. Forest of Fear
E7. The Warped Void

I was thinking: "we can fix this easily! It's as simple as editing over world level names, which are uncompressed graphics!"

I was thinking: "should we change it? Would people praise that we changed it to a good order, or would there be anyone who got used to the way WL3 numbers the levels, and say that our changes confuse them?"

Well, I was thinking that, keeping in mind that the world map is the only place that uses level codes.
Unfortunately, it's not. The Time Atack Best Times list uses the level codes too.
So, if we deside to change it, we would need to do some ASM to change the way the Best Times screen works... Switching order of times displayed...
 
Well, I did actually notice it, but I think it's okay, because of the way you get there. I'll see what I think today when I look at the actual map.

Yeah, but you shouldn't change it too much, because it might confuse people... Oh well, I suppose it doesn't matter, because the first time you get there there's a chest indicating the chest anyway, so you don't even need to recognise the tiles :p So we could do that.

Keep in mind I just edited the entire tileset to have multiple Exit Doors in it.

One Idea I had was to make the bricks for the Grey treasure Grey, the bricks for the Red one Red, and so on...
Or maybe make the bricks go along with the area it's in. (White in the Sky, Green in the Forest, Red in a volcano)
OR completely change the bricks in some occasions with ShyGuy's help. For example make hem overgrown with Plants in a forest, or make the scourging hot and broken in a volcano.

Just saying some ideas, as I don't see these things be very hard to do.

EDIT: also, I had a derp moment when I noticed I forgot to edit the night tileset colors.

Actually, ShyGuy, maybe you could change your Signature to some sprites you create(d) for the Hack? Or just something to show off them skills.

Yeah, I like the idea about changing the bricks accordingly to the place the treasure is found. Changing it per colour of chest would give problems because I think some green chests may use the same tilesets as some grey chests, for example.
Also, I just found a mistake in Mario Wiki's Wario Land 3 page! :o

Also, Drenn, how do you learn ASM hacking on a GB(C) game? As I am EXTREMELY interested in that stuff.

Aniway, guys, the Treasure Database is near completion! :D
I have added "Gives Acsess To" for every chest in the Database! :D
And i found a bunch of more errors I made! I fixed them, but I'll have to error check the entire database to make sure there are none!

Also, 607, I'm going to need those cutscenes :p
