I feel heavily inclined to agree with this particular sentiment, insofar as my own opinion goes. It is of my personal opinion that, when provided ample time and space with which to utilize one's language skills, a truly unique and beautiful work of linguistic art may come to fruition. Just as with any form of art, some instances may be more impressive than others; however, as again with all forms of art, the quality of a literary work is purely subjective. While there are certain qualities which are often posited as the "correct" way to write, just as there are similar qualities often said to be "correct" in painting, there will always be an audience that appreciates simplicity or even crudeness over highly intricate, meticulously-designed masterpieces. One friend of mine is a fan of musical genres such as metal, while I personally don't see the appeal; in a parallel manner, he's reported that the fourth movement of Antonín Dvořák's "New World Symphony" gives him such a headache that he is unable to listen through the entire movement, despite how I find it to give me a sense of motivation. As another example, take the post by BlueJackG directly above this one. While it is as simple as simplicity can be, it can be appreciated on multiple levels due to the context in which it was written. This is in stark contrast to my own post, which is on the exact opposite of the spectrum regarding length and complexity, which in turn serves as what amounts to the very same joke which was previously given in a single word. In this way, while I feel inclined to agree that long texts allow a great deal more flexibility in what one can say and how it can be said, simple posts should not be discounted either, as one should always account for the validity of others' personal tastes. And yes, I did write this entire paragraph for the specific purpose of making a really long wall of text.
