Controversial opinion:
Jar-Jar wasn't really that bad. Some parts I even found funny. "Wheb're's the wreb'nch, wheb--oh. ...u'b, u'buh, u'buh-- u'buh oh."
In my opinion, Anakin not really speaking or thinking like a little kid gets on my nerves much more.
Broke: *whatever lame-brained dialogue*
Woke: "I've been carving a Japor Snippet for the last thirty minutes. It's supposed to, um, give you good luck! I think it looks pretty good! ...You know what? You can have it, since you look so sad. Maybe, um, it'll make you happy!"
That "are you an angel" thing can stay, since that actually does operate on kid logic, but his followup explanation would need rewriting. Oh, and Padme's responses were kind of shit. I'd replace that amused "you're a funny little boy" with "smooth, kid". As it stands, it feels to me like she's not really in handmaiden "i am at ease u.u" mode, and more like she's still putting up false pretenses. Show us a bit more of the characteristics that could potentially draw the two of them together later on.
ALSO, it bugs me that Padme didn't ask more questions about Anakin's homeworld, and vice versa. If she's so curious about the planet, then why not? Asking Anakin to translate after a given exchange would've been a really humanizing touch, when they're riding in to that hangar atop that lizard thing (right around when Qui-Gon does the Chance cube thing) and dude talks to somebody, specifically. She could actually strengthen her "oh im just a handmaiden :^)))" deception by pretending to not speak Huttese. HUMANS ASK QUESTIONS GODDAMMIT, ABOUT FUCKING ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY IF THEY'RE SELF-CONFIDENT LIKE SHE WAS.
