I hate when they say (General Chit Chat version)

Im taking this idea from BlueJackG, he posted this thread in the gaming section, and I thought it could make for a good convo for anything else in life, too : p

Try to avoid posting about video game stuff though, since theres already a thread about that. This is the thread, in case you feel inspired to talk about things you dont like to hear people say about video games-
https://warioforums.com/index.php?threads/i-hate-when-they-say.625/

But yeah, this is a thread to talk about things people say that you hate hearing : p You can talk about anything, celebrities you like or television shows you enjoy, or foods you like, or whatever : p To give some clarity Ill start with a few things people commonly say that bother me.
Oh, and if youre way too easily offended by people who disagree with you, this isnt the thread for you : p Try to not take things here too personally, and keep in mind everyone has different thoughts and opinions, and that even though someone may disagree with you, that in no way means theyre out to get you personally.

Anywho, some things that irk me : p

"Bass guitar is a rhythm instrument only. You shouldnt play it too loudly, and you cant play more than one note at a time. You cant write music with it, and bass guitar cant have solos".

I can guarantee you comments like these are absolutely baseless and stupid : p Not one word of that is true, haha. There are many bass guitarists who write their own music, carry melodies and even play solo. It sounds great no matter how you play it, the only thing needed is knowing HOW to actually play bass guitar : p

"Bass guitar is an easy instrument to play, anyone can play it"

Only true when you play one note at a time for four measures at a time : p The exact same thing can be said about guitar if someone is only playing one single not at a time : p Actually learning the ins and outs of bass guitar, the fingerings, slapping and plucking, chords and other techniques, all take time and patience to learn, as well as building up alot of muscle : p

Some things I often see when I look up videos of pro wrestling : p

"WCW was mediocre, lacked talent or was overrated"

It changed the face of pro wrestling completely, and was a major cause of the huge surge of popularity of pro wrestling in the 90s. It may have had low points, but it certainly wasnt as awful and poorly written as much as some would want you to believe : p

"Vince McMahon was a genius"

Not to put him down, as he absolutely was a huge impact on pro wrestling, and is the reason why we have televised pro wrestling in the first place. But many of the things he has come up with have flopped completely, or were taken from other promotions. Even Wrestlemania, WWEs biggest show of the year, the idea was taken from NWAs Starrcade : p Hes a huge and important person in the industry, but not exclusively THE biggest and most important person of the industry.

I cant really think of any others right now : p Will try to come up with more later.......

I'm going to assume you didn't mean fictional characters as a whole ---

  • I hate it when: People say Ashley isn't all that popular! I mean, you think she isn't? for god sake, have you seen the things related to Ashley these days?
  • I hate it when : People say Ashley was just a random choice in Mario Maker! what a huge coincidence, that after Ashley's huge boost in popularity, it didn't mean she was chosen because of that! oh god, no, it was probably from a hat. They chose Ashley, because there are so many Ware characters, the chances of Ashley being picked are very low.
I'll probably post more unrelated to games as a whole later.

I hate it when people act like you're not allowed to have a negative opinion on anything. Like when people say "if you don't like it don't watch/play/listen/whatever."

I think I get what you mean, I often listen to a song a friend likes, and Ill mention a part of the song I think is weird or doesnt fit, and theyll become grumpy. Ill often say I like the song first, but then bring up something I dont like about it, despite thinking its a good song. People can be too quick to become offended by such things, yeah : p

Oh, I thought of another one : p

"Paul MacCartney was an innovative bass guitarist, and recreated bass guitar playing, and/or is one of the greatest bass guitarists of all time"

No : p Just no.
Im not saying he was bad at all, but he was not a legend of bass guitar at all : p In fact, if it werent for the fact that he was a member of the Beatles, he wouldnt be thought of so highly. He was not the first bass guitarist to move the emphasis of a song to the bass guitar, and he did not do anything significantly innovative. He was an alright bassist, he played well with the band. But his role as bass guitar was not as legendary as the bands fans would tell you it was : p Its very much mostly due to the fact that he was a member of the band, haha.

Brother, this isn't the unpopular opinions thread!

  • That Kids are stupid. - Okay their minds may had not fully developed, but kids are much smarter then we give them credit for. Seriously there are times when Kids are shown to be a lot smarter then adults are at times. Okay yes they're kids and yes they tend to think naively a lot, but that doesn't make them stupid, Like people assume they are.
  • That Global Warming or Clinate Change doesn't exist or it is just Nature. - Okay this attitude irritates me a lot. There has been hundreds, no, thousands of scientific studies that show that both do exist and it's affecting our planet at the very moment and studies have also shown that i'll get worse in the future, (hell it's already worse then it was 10 years ago.) And while nature does have a role in the events, it's human activity that's the primary cause of it all. Plus even then, it being Nature only does not invalidate it's existence. Because it's still there and it's affecting our planet in more ways then one. And with our new president being a climate change denier, oh shit...
  • That you're too old to have fun. - Okay something i've noticed is that there's this unwritten rule that you have to stop having fun by age 40 or 50, well that's bullshit, seriously life is too damm short to have that kind of attitude, hell it's probably easier to have fun in that time, since you can pretty much do anything you want at that age. Seriously as long as it's not illegal or anything, have fun, go travel to a new place, try a new hobby or go to to a club and dance the night away, because life is damn too short to not have fun.

Kids usually tell it like it is. They have no reservations (unless they're shy).

I do worry that the internet is making the average kid more cynical today. They can be easily swayed and grow biased - like the moronic Sega VS. Nintendo wars when I was a kid in the 90's. While those poor, blinded fools were arguing, I was enjoying the brilliant titles from both companies. You know where you can stick your brainwashing marketing tactics, Sega/Nintendo. I'll enjoy you both whether you like it or not.

What really grinds my gears is when people complain about the fact that someone is a woman or a person of color in a role in a movie.

Not about their acting abilities. If they said these people were bad actors due to their poor performances, that'd be fair game.

But nope, apparently, the fact that they're not a man or white is enough for these people complain. Why? You tell me.

You are right that the whole battle between the two kept people from being able to enjoy all the games for the two, but I often think back to those time, and miss how we actually had a reason to compete with each other with what consoles we liked. I think it was fun : p That doesnt really exist anymore. I mean yeah Xbox and Playstation kids still argue but the only difference between the two is controllers and online junk, so it doesnt really mean anything anymore. Back then it was the difference of night and day. I miss how things were back then. I always liked telling my neighbors why the N64 was so much better than the Playstation, haha.

What really grinds my gears is when people complain about the fact that someone is a woman or a person of color in a role in a movie.

Are they complaining merely about a character being female or black, or are they complaining when well known characters are being replaced by females or black people. I see people do that all the time, and I can totally understand that : p It serves no purpose and is absolutely annoying : p Ive never actually seen anyone ever complain that a person is female or black, though.

Sometimes Ill watch Christian apologists on youtube who take up the debate about different doctrines that claim to follow Jesus Christ but teach an entirely different story about Him on youtube, and Ill often see a bunch of atheists in the comment sections making the same post - "my fantasy is better than your fantasy"

I always imagine an angry little kid who has taken up atheism in order to rebel against their parents who like to quote things other angry atheists kids say when I read these comments : p They dont seem to understand WHAT the debate is actually about, and can only see people arguing over who is better, and in order to "stick it to religious people" they make that stupid post in the comment section : p

Yeah, that angers me too. And while I don't really hate Trump, I'm not too fond of his views on climate change or environmental protection. But knowing Trump, he will eventually soften his opinion.
At least the climate agreements in Paris were signed by many countries.

I hate it when they say "I don't like/I hate *something*" before even trying it. Like food for instance. If you don't like fish, not all the fish tastes the same, and if you don't like tuna, I'm pretty sure you haven't tried all different ways to prepare tuna, for example. And I can tell you how much I hate when I specifically tell people that said dish tastes better when you mix in the flavours, and they taste each individual part of the dish and don't like it. Gosh, I hate ginger, tastes awful, but mixed in with other ingredients, it really complements the flavor.

Wanna try something for yourself? Do you dislike vinagre and/or olive oil? Well do as I say and tell me if it tastes better: Mix in 3 spoons of olive oil with 2 spoons of vinagre.
The mixture of both flavours balances out, it won't taste like vinagre or olive oil, but instead, create a perfect balance between the 2. And this works with all other stuff.
So stop complaining about your dang fish or meat tasting bad all the time, and mix it in with other stuff to balance flavours out... gosh.

I hate when people say that you can't be successful unless you have a college degree, or when they think that a degree will guarantee you a job in that field. Like, there are many employers out there that won't care that you have one. They'd certainly prefer someone with experience/skill over someone who went to college.

Oh yeah, Ive seen that in real life. My mother got her degree back when we were kids, and she did not do well in the job market. She had good jobs here and there at at times, but often struggled in her field due to physical problems/limitations. Meanwhile, my friends father just kept one job his whole life while never even going to college, and he makes a LOT of money. (3,000$ a week is around the lowest he brings home) Hard work IS needed for success, but it is not the only contributing factor : p Luck, among several other things, also plays a part in someones success.

Thats why I tend to get kinda angry with people who make the claims that those who receive assistance of some sort are "lazy". I mean yeah, there are those who take advantage of the system, of course. And having steps in place to keep them from doing so is a good step to take. But not everyone in need of help was just lazy and refused to provide for themselves. Many tried hard, but things did not work out for them. So just painting all of them as "lazy" isnt right at all. People should be judged individually, and not collectively.

Anywho, I didnt really mean for this thread to become political, I just wanted to say that : p

Oh, another thing about those with college degrees, I really hate it when someone uses their degree as an argument, haha. Especially when their degree isnt even related to what is being discussed, I have seen people do this : p Having a college degree does not make you an expert on all things : p
