[DEAD] Wario Land 3 Hack Project

Is there, or will there ever be a way to add custom blocks into the game?
I really want conveyour belts, even had a dream that Out Of The Woods had a conveyor belt in the Red Chest area, near the Music Coin at the right side of the room

Nice :)
You should consider writing a tutorial :p
It would require custom code. I don't think it's beyond my abilities, but I imagine certain effects would be more complex than others. I suppose that would be something to look into along with animations.

Switches are actually quite simple btw, take a good hard look at a tileset with switches in it and it should become clear... :)

How'd I not get a mail? Anyway: no I don't mind my documents being moved, yes the forum was out for me as well, and no I have not been working on Wario Land 3 Hacking for the last few days.
I still have my own game project (small) open and I had not worked on it since I joined our group, so I decided to finish the main players' mechanics. During the weekend, once I'm done with homework, I will see what I can do for hacking.

Importhant note for Gameplay Desingers:

Wario automaticly crouches when aprouching a tight passage.
However, Invisible Wario doesn't do that.
So we shold try to avoid tight passages in Invisble Wario puzzles.

Taking that into account, I re-designed the Invisible Wario puzzle again.
It now uses the Anty-Enemy walls, like those in The Colossal Hole.
Wario can pass throught these walls, while enemyes can not

As a reminder:
W- room entrance
1 - Chest (Blue)
2 - Key (Blue)
3 - Music/Wario Coin
4 - Mad Scientist
8 - Eye Wall

Does anybody wanna try re-doing this puzzle in the editor? :p
Or maby we should wait for version 0.5 first?

I'll try it when I get home :)

I came up with a few ideas on how to make an interesting desert level for our hack. :)

Now, the main problems with the original W1 Desert Ruins is that the main focus of the level isn't the desert - it's the ruins on the sides. The ruins are unbalanced, as there is 1 chest in the Day Side and 3 chests in the Night Side. Making the Quick Sand and Sand Hands serve almost no purpose at all.

I submitted my ideas into our Hack Folder, Level Design subfoldrer.
Let me know what you guys think of it :)
And what do you think of the other levels ideas as well :p

Are all these spikes really necessary, they make it veeeery tedious.

EDIT, also, if Mad Scienstein walks of the View, he will instantly respawn in his starting location. THAT is very annoying.

AAAND it's done.

I uploaded 2 versions: Original and Slightly Less Tedious.
They are in: Gameplay & Puzzles (oops)/ Invincible Wario Puzzle

EDIT: also, I'll upload a version without any torches in a few minutes...

Why are everyone double posting?
Is this a forum glitch?

Haiko, I don't think those are spikes.
I'm pretty sure ShyGuy intended them to be tourches
I actually like it with a few spikes.
It makes you think: "They clearly don't want you to go over, what should I do?"

In my Slightly Less Tedious version, I made slightly fewer spikes, but I still kept them.
See if you can think of a way to get to the other side!
I'll upload the no spike version right now as well.

EDIT: Ow, and in the original version, you cannot get the first Wario Coin in the Puzzle, I left that in for you guys to check out.
It's possible in the other 2 versions though.

I just tested the No Spikes version, and here is what I have to say

  • I like how you modified the level for testing purposes, to create a nice clear path to the puzzle
  • I like the use of the sideways pipe before Room 1 entrance, and the use of Anty-Enemy at the room entrance. I didn't think of having eather of these
  • Getting the Professor over the first sideways pipe turned out to be a bit more difficult than it needs to be, so I added myself a Skinny Platform to make it easier
  • You can see Room 2 from Room 1. It would be better to have it in Sector 13 instead of Sector 12
  • I also gave Room 2 a little bit of a redesign, because: if Wario goes for the Wario coin while insivisible, there was a tight passage, and Invisible Wario does not automaticly crouch. So i changed it to make it so there's no need to crouch
  • Room 2 exit's was broken
I uploaded a slightly edited version to fix a few problems I had with the puzzle
