    Gonna be blunt, I've always found it kinda weird how many people seem so obsessed about getting credited for things ripped from games. Like, you didn't make it. Shouldn't the original company or developer get the credit instead?

    If anyone wants to use anything I ripped from Wario Land 4 in their own projects, or any footage I recorded for YouTube, you don't need to ask or give credit.

    I moreso agree. On one hand I like to commend people as a courtesy who did a bit of work to get something that I'm using for free... on the other hand, sprite ripping is strictly a nonprofit hobby, and it is monumentally easier to rip/recreate preexisting material than it is to say, draw something original in the style of another game (i.e. customs).
    Personally I wouldn't demand confirmation or credit if I ripped sprites either.

    Yeah, true. I ripped like one thing one time iirc I did say credit would be appreciated but not needed because I usually give credit when using ripped sprites but yeah maybe I shouldn't have asked for it at all.

    Also it is the reason I haven't released the source code for my fangame lol, I didn't note the ripper of the sprites I used and have to get them before releasing the thing.

    I'm looking back at old articles and videos I posted and... what do you mean it's been over a decade now? What do you mean my game development project has been going over 13 years?

    You probably are traversing a very difficult period where everything seems black but these are your feelings talking, trust me. I'm also going through a phase where I said such things and did things I really regret but I managed to get professional help and recover slightly for now. Hopefully, you will be able to see things more clearly. Stay safe.

    Struggling with Discord spam and stuff makes me realise how grateful I am for forums like this one.

    They just kinda... work. Because we can setup whatever systems we like to deter spam, trolls, etc, and they'll be unique enough that the troublemakers won't get around them.
